Awesome
It is apparent God is moving and working within this youth group! David Platt, the speaker for the week, has been encouraging students to persue a personal relationship with Christ by diving into the word daily and challenging them to do more than go through the motions of life. Students also heard from Compassion International about how blessed we are here in America compared to countries around the world. They heard tesimonies of children who are and have grown up in poverty. But what is so miraculous is we have the opportunity to give them life through Christ by sponsoring a child. Sponsorship provides food, personal hygiene products, clothing, medical treatments, education & the chance to know Christ love. Many of our students stepped up to Gods calling to help out in this way and decided to sponsor children from around the world. It was an eye opening experience for many to see how lucky we are and how much we have, yet we're never satisfied with God alone. Were so thankful for the prayers and support of our church and for sharing your students with us!
A view from the students....
Monday!
After traveling in 6 15-passenger vans for 5 hours, we made it to the beach! We are staying in some super nice condos at the Phoenix 7. When we went to eat, we found out that we got discounts at a lot of the local restaurants in Orange Beach. I got a full shrimp meal usually priced at $15 for just $7. Then we were off to the service. Last night, the Charlie Hall Band kicked us off in service. They did an amazing job at engaging the students in worship. Our speaker, David Platt, opened up the week with a call to REspond. We started out looking in the book of Hosea. He paralleled Gomer’s adulterous relationship with Hosea to our adulterous relationship with God. He explained how God continues to pour His love on us so that we will want to turn away from all the things that keep us from Him. David said something that really struck me because I forget it often. “It’s not what we do, but it’s what God did.” God meets us where we are and loves us unconditionally. It was a great kick off to the week. I am super excited about what God has in store for us! Please keep us in your prayers. Pray for walls to be broken down and lives to be changed. Overall, things are going great and the students are having a blast!
Love more.
